Mazda are due to launch their new Mazda MX5 roadster in 2013. The new concept will be lighter than the original, its huge reduction in weight loss will only enhance the driving experience and improve efficiency. With 10% weight loss in the bodyweight and 10% weight loss in the chassis, the new Mazda MX5 offer a lightness and agility at low speeds but a more secure feeling at high speeds. Sales of the car won’t be expected until 2014 though.
And if that isn’t enough, Alfa Romeo is due to launch its new lightweight Spider in 2015. Expected to hit the car industry by storm the new Alfa is to be the next generation Mazda MX5, but with Alfa’s own body styling and engine. The two companies Mazda and Alfa Romeo announce their co-operation in May this year and production will start in 2015 at Mazda’ own factory.
